Common questions
Where do these listings come from?
From the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which licenses every vehicle storage facility (impound lot), tow company and used auto parts recycler (junkyard) in the state. We list only current licenses, updated October 28, 2026.
Can I sell my car to a junkyard without a title in Texas?
Usually you need the title. Since January 1, 2026, a licensed auto parts recycler can buy a car without one only if it is at least 13 years old and hasn't been registered for at least 7 years. Our no-title guide covers your options.
What can an impound lot charge in Texas?
State caps apply: storage is limited to $22.85 a day for a vehicle 25 feet or shorter, plus an impound fee up to $22.85 and a notification fee up to $50. See towed in Texas for the full list and your rights.
